Experience the raw power and untamed beauty of...
Experience one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife adventures in just one day — mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, offering a rare opportunity to observe these gentle giants in their natural rainforest habitat.
This 1-day safari is perfect for travelers with limited time but a strong desire for a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience. The trek takes you deep into lush tropical forest, guided by expert rangers who track habituated gorilla families.
Your adventure begins very early with a pick-up from your lodge in southwestern Uganda (near Bwindi). You will transfer to the park headquarters for registration and briefing.
At the park headquarters, Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will brief you about:
Gorilla trekking guidelines
Safety procedures
Group allocation (8 visitors per gorilla family)
Venture into the dense rainforest with your ranger guide. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. The terrain may be steep and muddy, but the experience is incredibly rewarding.
Along the way, you may encounter:
Forest birds
Monkeys such as black-and-white colobus
Unique plant species
Once the gorilla family is located, you will spend one magical hour observing them:
Watch silverbacks guarding their families
See mothers nursing infants
Observe juveniles playing
This close encounter is emotional, humbling, and unforgettable.
After the trek, return to the park headquarters for your trekking certificate. Transfer back to your lodge or onward destination.
